What is a good way to prevent outdoor furniture cushions from fading?

Even the expensive "sunbrella" fabric fades at my house. I just put items out when I am going to use them, or expect to replace every year or two. Most of the time it is just me in the house so grabbing from the garage is no big deal. The few pieces out there year round have "sand" colored cushions so even though I know they have faded, most people do not notice as much. Plus I flip the cushions regularly.

Naomie's advice is good. I would take the cushions in when no one is out in the chairs. If they are tied and you don't wan to do that, perhaps a heavy piece of plastic that is white can be cut to throw over them? There are also some sun guard sprays you can get for about 12.00 per can. There are several spray on fabric protectants that are specifically designed to block the UV rays from the sun. One is called Trek 7 "Ray Bloc" and has consistently 4 out of 5 star ratings. Also, rotate your cushions and flip them over to even out the wear and tear, as well as potential fading effects from the sun.

I am assuming they are not protected at all from sun with an umbrella or covered ceiling/deck, Put them away when not in use, such as a bench with lid to avoid sun from fading. They will last for years.

I've tried the sprays, they don't work . Take Naomi's advice and just bring them in when not in use .
