So sad and so unnecessary. In my experience, ingnorance breeds fear and contempt. Lead by example - take the high road and do not let others cloud your judgment.
People feel safe with the familiar. That is human nature. But progress means change so thank you to those not afraid to ruffle some feathers.
Hello Cat; Most people are afraid of change simply because it is something which is different.
Instead of being open to new and possible exciting things, most people would rather go with what they know.
I on the other hand enjoy new, different and not so typical things!
I hope that this helps you! Take Care!
Yes, my husband has preached many sermons about resistance to change, but few about our resistance to other people's change. "Why can't we all just get along?" Sorry, Rodney King, but Satan wants it the other way. But I prefer (paraphrased): "Love yourself as God loves you. And love your neighbor as yourself." No wiggle room there. Bless you 😇
Fear of the unknown. It's sad really.
Sometimes if you change something they may start to change themselves and they don't want that and resist that whole heartedly. Our whole block is pretty much the same look. We took out our front shrubs that were old and scraggily looking from lack of care and put in a seating area on one side of the front door and a hosta garden on the other side with a couple of other plants where they could get morning sun. I think a lot of people were skeptical about it, but now we have 2 hanging plants, 2 half barrels and 4 other large and small pots on the seating area and everyone thinks it looks great. Even my neighbor who never does anything outside is doing flower pots and cleaning up the top of her backyard hill of weeds. Its amazing what one change on our block has led to other changes nearby.
First, shame on the neighbors! Nothing gives them the right to dictate what the new owners do or say to their property, unless it violates city codes - in which case they have some recourse. Otherwise, the owner has the absolute right to do with whatever he or she chooses with their purchase, without any grief from (and I hate to use this word) - the "neighbors". Be tough - and I am so sorry for you!
