Hi Kathy :) Well, in my own personal experience they absolutely HATE MINT ANYTHING ;) (and personally I LOVE mint everything LOL). On vacation bring mint plants to sit on the tables and/or hang both inside and outside, hang fresh mint in bundles to dry (to use later, in the winter, to make mint teas), sprinkle dried mint around the perimeter of the house (it deters mice/rats, and ants too, as well as spiders), but IF you have a pet with you take this WARNING seriously: mint is toxic to dogs and cats and the odor alone can make them VERY sick. i am posting below an anti-spider spray you can use to squirt in the corners or the rooms and porches to keep them from hanging out there, or anywhere they seem to want to settle in. ENJOY YOUR SUMMER! and thank you so much for coming to Hometalk for advice on this (it brought back wonderful childhood memories of the summer beach house I used to stay in with my Aunt and Uncle as a child -- oh so much fun!)
