I have mirrored sliding closet doors with gold trim. Very 80's.
Would love suggestions for DIY projects to update.
either on the rod in your bathroom, which is not very comfy, for sure, or get an expandable bathroom rod to put into a space (which you can hopefully find) somewhere, then cover it with a curtain. Otherwise large hooks on some wall and hang clothes hangers with your clothes on them.
I'm not sure of your room configurations, but have you considered the PAX customized closet system from IKEA? I did this in my daughter's room and it is wonderful.
When my daughter and her family moved into a new home they thought that a closed door (in the small bedroom that they never opened when first looking over the house) was a closet door. After moving in they found out the children had no closet because the closed door they had not previously opened led up to an unfinished attic! The following link would have been a great help in solutions, but they did improvise and put a few brackets on the wall, affixed a pole from bracket to bracket and used that for the girls to hang their dresses, pretty shirts, and skirts on. Hope this weblink full of ideas will spark something in you that will provide you with what you need. Thank you for coming to Hometalk for answers. :)

I recently saw clothes hanging from a rod attached with chains from the ceiling of an apartment in a very quaint old building.
An old-fashioned wardrobe would be a good solution. They always have these at our local St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. or Walmart makes a bunch of closets... https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=closets%20and%20wardrobes&typeahead=closets
And they also make rolling racks like stores use... https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=rolling%20racks%20for%20hanging%20clothes&typeahead=rolling%20racks
purchase an armoire
Door hangers that hook over the door . You can get single or multiple ones
You can get over the door "closet" rod. Or get a shower rod that can be screwed into the wall. Place it in an out of the way area. Or get a good old fashioned armoire.
If you don't have the room or money for an armoire, you can buy a coat rack on wheels--some come with an overall cover, or you could buy a rack and add your own cover made from a pretty fabric.
Thank you for all the great ideas
Get a cardboard closet, and put the clothes in there., or hooks on a door, will help also, tho I would get a hook that comes over the door, vs a hole in the door, just in case you move. Then you will NOT be charged for the hole, ok? J.
I would use spring-tension rods They are ...I'm sure you can get different lengths at most places like Walmart or Home Depot. You can also use free standing clothes racks that work just great too. I got mine at Walmart
It really depends on how much space you have to hang your clothes. We once turned a small area at the end of our upstairs hall into a clothes closet, then later into a tiny room for a grandchild. then a computer space, now a place for a printer. If I had space in a room but no closet I would improvise a closet, by having a long shelf high up with a closet pole hanging from that. Anything can be attractive.
