Artificial! I've mixed goodwill artifical plants with live plants in my home. The fake ones are up high and I don't have to water, but run the shower over them once a year for spring cleaning just as I do my live ones! I got started when I place fake plants in my classroom. It made the class feel calmer and more pleasing to have plants!

try pothos, they do not need much light and survive if you forget to water. Cactus or succulents are very good, but.... You need to put them in a VERY sunny window. Turn the pot every couple of weeks.
