Dollar store/Walmart sheets.
Use king sized sheets! Hang upside down and in the top, which is now the botton, open the side seams and run a piece of pvc to weight it down and keep it from billowing in the breeze.
Hello Rmbragdon; Please check at Wal-Mart. (walmart.com)
I purchased several medium duty slatted shades, which look like wood for my Parents. They too have a huge porch, and the sun is brutal on one side.
These work quite well, and have held up for numerous seasons.
I have hung medium weight sheers over the shades, to give the porch a fancy look.
I hope that this helps you!! Take Care!![](http://cdn-fastly.hometalk.com/resources/design/emojis/1f60e.png)
vines are wonderful shade. We had bright sun on a front porch and planted a rhododendron bush. It took a while but is very effective. We also have grapevines and Boston ivy and wisteria. They all could be sun blocks. and are less expensive than fabric.

Have you thought of making shades or drapes out of drop cloths? They come in several different sizes and the largest really is big, and they aren't too expensive. I have always used them for my pergola curtains and top. A few years ago I made bedroom drapes out of them and still like them.
