Good Evening Bonita, If you live in Memphis this would be the place to contact (they have a great recycling program that will accept all the plastic buckets and pool covers you want to donate):

Before using the buckets for any of the ideas in the following link, remember to thoroughly clean them out and preferably let them air dry in the sun a few days to make sure any remaining fumes are gone (I particularly like the camping potty idea LOL... well, we're on the go alot):

Thanks for using Hometalk for ideas. HOpefully there will be a few you like in the posts I provided, and maybe someone else has some other ideas. :)
I had some plastic buckets from cat litter. I cleaned them good after they were emptied and I now use them for dry dog food, dry cat food and bird seed.. Most of these I buy in large bags from sams. My husbands uses them also for lawn fertalizer, Ice melt and anything that comes in large bags. They stack well so it saves space. And you can put on them what is in the bucket.
i've filled them with potting mix and have grown veggies. i also use them for road deicer pellets. emergency camping commode- line with plastic bag a good few scoops of kitty litter in the bottom.
Hello Bonita, You can grow a herb garden in some of them. You could also use them to store Christmas items like ornaments, lights, and other decor. Write what's in them. You could do the same thing for other holidays like Easter, July 4th, etc. They would easily store things like this because you can stack them. You could put sand or kitty litter in one. Put the lid on and put it in the trunk of your car for if you ever get stuck in ice or snow. Hope these ideas help you. Good luck.
Like Diane, I use our cat litter and pool chemical buckets for storage of miscellaneous things around the house. I also plant in them (spray the outside of the buckets with plastic spray paint), store winter clothes, store summer clothes, sheets, blankets, etc. I am a scout leader, so I also store camping gear, dry firewood and wood starters, camp foods, etc. My scouts have also padded the tops and have made their own seats. Scouts have even made their dads "fishing seats" out of these containers. Wonderful because they also store neatly, stay dry and keep the critters out of the inside of the buckets.
Be SURE to clean all chemicals out! They make great storage containers as they are the same size and have covers.
DO NOT store food in them!!!
Any that you will not use put in recycling. Do not be surprised when others grab them 4 the same reason lol. 😎
Turn them into stools or use then for planters. You can also donate to your local goodwill or habitat for humanity.
paint them first with a bright color and use some stencils to make designs on them and plant flower in to put around your pool. But don't forget to put holes in the bottom for drain holes which you can use a large nail and hammer to punch them with.
