My husband and I recently painted our cabinets and he had the same thought. If we by a professional sprayer it would go faster and have a professional grade finish. Which is what we did. There were a few problems. First the cost of the sprayer was $275. not cheep. Then the spray tip that came with the sprayer was not meant for that type of finish. So new tip purchased. The real issue was, we are not professional painters. We did some practice runs but a day or two of painting on plywood does not make you a professional. We had runs in the paint the finish wasn't smooth (the reason we bought it) and the mess and clean up every time you use this was 45-60 minutes. We had to sand down and repeat a few times. If I had to do it over I would have used can spray paint, something that I am very good with. It would have been much cheaper and the end results would have a nicer finish. Good luck.
You can use Dixie Belle Paint in a sprayer. 8 oz of paint and 2 oz of water.
I see a lot of the DIYers using this one: HomeRight C800971 Finish Max Extra Fine Finish HVLP Sprayer
I personally have not used it, so I don't know how good it is, but inexpensive enough (99.00) to maybe try.
Idk anything about sprayers, but if you are only considering it because you hate cleaning brushes and rollers, keep them in a plastic bag until you are done. I do it all the time, because I hate cleaning them in a middle of a project. I use to put them in the freezer, but I don't like the smell. The last time during a hot summer and no a/c, I just put them in a hole-free grocery bag, and they were fine.
It was Graco Magnum Pro X19 Cart Commercial Paint Sprayer, I bought it from paintfairs's commercial paint sprayer recommendation list
