You can use things like book shelves and/or curtains as room dividers. Use a pull out couch or futon to double as a bed/seating area. Utilize wall space with shelving. Utilize ceiling space by hanging pendant lighting to save on floor space. Hope these ideas help:)

You are so lucky that there is so much information out there now on furnishing smaller spaces (due to downsizing, the cost of living and the cost to build - besides more people "going green"). If you Google "furnishing small spaces" you will not only find tons of sites on how to do it, but there are many furniture dealers who have furniture designed specifically for smaller spaces and you can get great ideas just by perusing these sites!

If possible use a daybed or futon instead of a regular bed. Then decorate the same as you would for your living room. If not possible, how about a room divider or screen?

The only way I can imagine would be with a Murphy bed.
Here the perfect idea that my niece and I did for her first apt it was the same concept as pictured below. Enjoy
Yes I love the Ikea divider bookcase. And I love murphy beds, some put art on the backside of it while its up. Another option if you have really tall ceilings is a loft bed, and then the underside can be the living space.
