Transform an old mason jar into a beautiful shabby chic vase quickly and easily with chalk paint!

What can you do with a cool vintage mason jar that won't come clean? Well, you can put it in the basement to hold spider webs, or you can easily transform it into a beautiful shabby chic vase by giving it a quick makeover using chalk paint!

I love using Americana Decor DecoArt Chalky Finish for all of my projects! This paint provides the perfect chalky finish and dries super fast!

First wash the jar well and let it dry. Then begin painting it with light strokes just enough to hide all the dirt, but leaving a little bit of the jar showing for a "distressed" effect.

Once the paint is dry you can take a credit card or quarter or even a wet paper towel wrapped around your finger and distress small areas all around the jar until it has a bit of "age" to it. If you distress too much, just paint right back over those areas.

After the paint has completely dried and you are satisfied with the distressed effect, the jar will be ready for your favorite flowers! Tie some pretty ribbon around the top of the jar for a little extra shabby touch!
