How can you keep nasty bugs from entering boxes in the cupboard?

I went to use my rice and found small bugs in the container. So I threw hem out. Then I checkked other boxes and they also had bugs. How can I keep them from my cupboards? Have tossed out everything. Never had this with my old cupboards. These cupboards are new. Do I spray the interior? If so, with what?

Start putting all your dry goods in well closed plastic container or glass jars. You probably brought them in a bag of flour, rice, cornmeal, anything like this, even nuts. I don't have that problem anymore since I started doing this years ago. Putting some of the most susceptible things in the freezer should kill it off when you bring it home. They will get into the boxes and bags things come in with not a problem. Clean out the cupboards they are in to get rid of the loose ones and repackage your goods as you bring them home and it should get rid of them. Make sure you check even cake mixes, anything that is floury before you use them.
You have grain moths! Get traps and anything they've gotten into throw out! They are a pain to deal with!

Anything that is not in a container that is not sealed will and can get bugs.

Chances are you purchased some tainted food without knowing it. New cupboards, old cupboards - doesn't make a difference. Anything purchased in paper or cardboard automatically goes into my freezer for a week, minimum. I keep my extra sugar and flour in the freezer too. Everything else is in glass containers or Tupperware brand containers. Here are a couple of links to help you out.

I had the same problem & a husband who didn't close boxes. I went to the dollar store and got plastic containers. I put flour, cereal, cornmeal, etc. in these containers. This has worked well for me.
Put flour and sugar in the freezer, seal open boxes of cereal, Bisquick, pancake mix, etc, in self-sealed plastic zipper bags or keep in the fridge. Nothing, nothing at all that is edible should be in opened boxes or bags but in plastic, glass and metal tins and jars.
Agree with all the recommendations. You more likely brought them in from the store. And they will spread. I use plastic containers for more long term storage and plastic zipper bags for quick use items.
