Honestly, there aren't a ton of ideas for window air conditioners that I have found, but a few ideas are to put up a room divider/screen in front of that window in that area, or hide it with curtains, or dress the a/c unit up itself by decorating it with peel and stick wall paper or wrapping paper to make it look prettier or blend in better.

That might defeat the object..... But you could disguise it by maybe making a larger box to go over it that has maybe Bamboo slats or poles , so air can circulate but looks more attractive to your eyes...........
These are good when it is not in use. The cabinet is good just leave the doors open.

We use a room divider that has slats so that the air can flow through.
