That depends on where the ivy is
I have used a weed spray for woody weeds and vines to kill kudzu in Georgia. It will kill the vine but you have to pull and cut until the roots are up. Not easy but after some sweaty work the kudzu did not come back. Possibly works for ivy as well. Good luck!
You can cut it down to ground level and then drown in vinegar. When dead, dig out and dispose..
Vinegar and salt mix.
The only way to remove the ivy is pulling it out.Using any chemicals or even hot water will kill the surounding trees and plants

This is just the thing! I find this works wonderfully. You have to cut down the ivy and then brush this on the top of where you cut it. Bonide
