I've heard staining is a good technique for updating floors. So how do I stain my wood floor?
My vote is no. It creates a tripping hazzard when transitioning from laminate+new flooring to existing flooring.
Why not! Laminate isn't so thick that if you aren't doing the whole house you couldn't just put a transition piece down. You'd have to do that anyway if you took the flooring up, right?
If the old floor is nailed or glued down go ahead. If it's a floating floor then don't . Both the old and new will move independently. Premature wear/breakdown. Fall/trip hazard.
Go with William’s advice ... he’s 100% correct! A relative of mine has been in the flooring business a long time and he says the same thing as William.
Don't suggest doing so. Depending on the type of floor also. ceramic should be played down on Dura Rock sub flooring, and such.
