Interesting concept, but no. It will not lay properly and fail quickly. My installers would refuse the job.

Naomie is correct. Carpet padding is too thick and soft for the laminate to lay properly without movement.
Best to remove the carpet and then do the floor. You need something solid underneath.

Not the best idea to do this, laminate flooring needs to have a solid surface under it.
No, you need special laminate underlay, otherwise it will end up distorted and cracked as it flexes!
