I need a way to keep the heavy pollen out of my screened porch-help!

Tall Standard Flowering tree to block the Electric box or Folding Screen plus Lots of very colourful plants and foliage plants in pots. If the sun bothers you a Roller Blind to the front edge of porch.
To add to John's suggests, paint designs on the rug under the chairs using at least a little turquoise. I like the turquoise against the color of the exterior. Take a 1/2 inch piece of plywood and make a "picture" on storage door. Make it as fun or as sophisticated as you want.
How about adding long sheer curtains to the outside of the window that go to the floor of the porch. Also, maybe a small rectangular wooden table that you could use for placing a plant and setting glassess on. Add a small table runner for color. May help to make it look more welcoming. Wonder if you could hide the electrical box by making a cover for it that you could hang on hinges so it could be easily opened & closed. Good luck
How about a shower curtain with a pattern you like to cover both the door and electric box? Or a bamboo blind hung from the ceiling to conceal them. You poor thing being stuck with the colors, etc. out there!
I would get some varying height/size pots for gorgeous flowers in the rocky area as well as keeping my eyes open for a cool metal sculpture. Things that tie in the color of those fabulous vintage chairs, while ignoring the dated paint lol! I particularly like rocks so I would definitely add at least 1 very large rock.
You could put some LED lights in the bushes on the porch side for "mood lighting".
I'd think about adding lights on the walls in the hallway to the front door. I'd also hang metal artwork on the walls. I would also put up wind chimes, spinners, birdhouses or things like that. Also watch for a great, colorful outdoor area rug and small table. OOPS! Paint the one that's back there lol!
I would build a small frame on the floor and put in lattice "closet" to block electric box. Then I would weave fake ivy through front of lattice. That would not block the door but cover electrical. Maybe someone out there who's handy can tell you how to secure frame for lattice, if you like the idea. I'm no carpenter put I do great things with Velcro and liquid nails! And, I would build or find some flower boxes to put on the rocks, put in the trellis of my choice and grow something vertical for some privacy.
I would put a little white picket fence in the gravel close to the bushes. It would cover the ugly bottoms of the bushes while giving a larger patio effect. Put paver stones next to the front porch to enlarge your porch area.Put a latice fence across the front just wide enough to block the electric box. Put a hinge on it attatch another latice fence across the front of the electric box and door. Make them like french doors .( I know you're not supposed to block door but latice can open. )or attatch that portion to the door itself. Use strong velcro so easy to remove.
I guess I'm stuck on lattice and trellises because I used them in my new home garden and love results. So, looking at your photo, why not screw in simple hooks into lattice panels and eyeHook into ceiling and just hang them from above? That would give easy access to electrical planet and yet block it without blocking door. Just a thought.
well, whatever you do I would sure like to see the result. Oh, and I love those retro turquoise gliders!
You could get a low, rectangular planter box, or a whiskey barrel, and place that on the stones in front of your porch. Fill it with good potting soil, and get annuals that will stand the shade from the bushes. There are also thin wire trellises that will fit in a planter, and you could plant something that will look really nice, like a clematis vine that will twine up the trellis, and then plant other low plants like impatiens, succulents, at the foot of the vine around the rim of the planter.
Hope it works out for you
I would love to see it when you're finished.
show us when it's done, i think there's lots of potential for a fab porch with everyone's ideas :-)
lours, ting coI am not sure if you want plants or, if you do, what plants would grow in your area. I like the idea of false -latticed-French doors very much. I would definitely cover the storage door and electrical box with hinged French Doors. If you can get some latticed ones or even shutters, then I would paint them white with a turquoise border. Then I would put long boxes of plants along the front of the porch with a small whit picket fence behind it to give your porch a larger appearance and give you some privacy. After studying your pictures, I am also wondering if you could put up a string of fairy lights right up around the whole porch at ceiling height. It would only mean putting up a few screw-in hooks to hold the lights. Or otherwise, if you prefer, maybe some banting in turquoise and other complimentary colours. I would also spray your metal plant stand turquoise. Lastly, if you find your porch seems a little crowded, then maybe you could make a fold-down table to use when needed. If you do use the banting idea, maybe some cushions for the seats, in the same colours as the banting. That would tie the whole porch together. Please show us the end result. I would love to see what you do. Thanks.
Can you extend the porch into the rocky area? So you can change the seats a bit to face away from the storage door/electric box area?
Hi EIleen, I just found the Mosiac walkway and love it, and want to do it, can you send me the 7 materials list? I can't seem to find it in your post. lucysargeant@sbcglobal.net
