Help! How can I remove stains from my fiberglass bathtub?
I enjoy adding essential oils to my bath water but my favorite, patchouli, left stains I can't get out! Help!
I had some really bad rust stains. Used The Bartenders Friend cleanser and some elbow grease and they disappeared.
My situation is unusual, but I solved it with hydrogen peroxide. Spray it on, wait five minutes. It's a mild foaming chemical reaction, just like when you clean a cut. If it doesn't work, it was a cheap try. I also like Bar Keeper' s Friend powder cleaner.
DON"T BLOW IT UP! Use Easy Off No Fume Oven Cleaner in the BLUE can. Spray it on, let it foam and sit till it liquefies. Rinse away. Woks on enanel, porcelain, and fiberglass.
You might want to contact the manufacturer of porcelain tubs for this answer. Companies like Kohler that have been around for decades would be the first I'd check with. I am sure they have had experience with this issue before. The formula for the glazes have changed over time. Contact the company itself, not a salesperson or an agent. They do not have the science background to know what you need. Yes, porcelain glaze is a science. You may have to resort to having your tub refinished. If you can find a reputable company in your area, it's worth it. I have had a claw foot tub redone, as well
as a stall shower floor, and it was totally worth it!
