Have you pulled a permit? This renovation requires a permit and must be built and inspected according to local building codes. Best to hire a licensed professional to do this job if you have no idea what you are doing. Any resulting damage will void your homeowners policy. You can easily find local codes on your City, Town, Village or County websites. Just want you not waste your time and money and have a bigger problem to fix in the long run due to improper installation, water damage and mold issues.
