We just moved into a new home that we built, after losing our home of 20 years to a fire. We are in the same property and were taking the finishing one day at a time.... See more
light colored walls,bright inviting colors,small scale furniture,lighting,
Light colors and sometime rearrange furniture. I never paint my ceilings white I extend the paint to the ceiling if I am using lighter colors on the walls. You can accents with a darker or bright wall to add personality.
first ensure that you don't put too much furniture in it and that the furniture itself is not too big for the space. Light colours on the walls, airy fabric curtains, strategic use of lighting and mirrors can all help give the sense of more space
Light colors for the walls and ceiling. No clutter and size appropriate furniture.
Let in as much natural light as possible. Paint the room a light color.
Use light colored paint
A mirrored wall will also make it look bigger.
First, declutter. That always make a room feel tight and smaller than it actually is. Then play with furniture placement so the room as good flow to other parts of the house, yet still comfortable for its intended purpose. If needed, move unnecessary furniture pieces to other locations in your home. Wall to wall furniture squished in also make the room feel small. Repaint if needed, lighter colors make a space feel lighter and airy.
Thank you! All great ideas I want to try.
Don't put furniture agains the walls unless really necessary. The space behind makes the room look freer and like it can breathe. It is o.k. to have a lot of things, like bookcases, but organisation is what makes the eye relax. Also realize that people have different tolerances for styles of decorating and also disorder.
