I have a king size bed. Is there a way to "fix" the bed skirt.

Understand completely! You can purchase "wrap around" style bedskirts. Here are a few examples. Just know how long your drop needs to be. If you sew, you can easily modify the ones you already own. Hope his helps.

I assume you have one that goes under the mattress. Cut the skirt part off and put elastic on it. Then you would be able to take it on and off at will
Put Velcro along the edges and put it on the material you want to use as the bed skirt, that way you can remove and replace make on between cleanings
Perhaps you could take it off the bed, remove the part that goes under the mattress and connect the bed skirt to the bed at the appropriate height with Velcro strips in a fashion so that you can pull it tight and have it hang straight. I hope you understand what I am suggesting. It may be the easiest to take on and off to launder and should have no problem staying on the bed.
Try glueing/ stapling Velcro onto the base and sewing it onto the skirt?
Velcore or elastic
You can cut it off with a few inches extra from the part that goes under the mattress. Then turn under the raw edge (and iron it, if you feel like it). Hand or machine sew elastic on that folded edge. Then tuck the bed skirt back under the mattress, tucking it under with a ruler every six inches or so. Don’t worry about retrieving the big center piece of fabric. It won’t hurt anything. Two other hints: use a big safety pin at each corner of the bed skirt if you think it might sag or pull up. And use mattress grips on the fitted sheet to hold it under the mattress. 😇
What about getting velcro tape and placing it all around the bed frame and sewing the other part to the skirt. This way you can rip it off easily for cleaning.
I did it on our old bed and loved it
