Do you have an extra room that you can make into a dressing room/closet? Is the wall next to your closet next to the closet in another room? Could that be utilized by taking down the wall between the closets. opening up the wall on your side and closing the wall in the other room? Does the other room need that closet where it currently is? Can you build a closet in the other room or use an armoire or wardrobe there? Wishing you the best?
Are there any other bedrooms in the house? Use those closets too. Just decide who gets the bedroom closet and who gets the other bedroom closet. Even in a 13 x 11 room, funiture placement can be a bit tricky, yet still have space for 2 small nightstands and a small dresser. Find other space in your home, use underbed storage for shoes (buy large cookiesheets), out of season items. Use your walls, install shelves and get pretty baskets to store items.
I've seen where people have put their beds more out into the middle and built the closet into the back turning it into a dressing room also. They could walk in from both sides of the bed. Use towers for side tables that will hold a lot and take up little space. You didn't say if your closet was built in or out. Either way build across the wall where the old one is (using it). 8x10 rooms are not unheard of. Just have to get creative with storage
Put a rod in the closet halfway up.
Downsizing several times Ive learned to maximize all available storage options. In the kitchen maximize cupboard storage utilizing various storage bins baskets and elevating wire racks below countertops. You might consider using the backside of the cabinet door too. Purge the things you dont need or store other things that you don’t use often in another area of the house....like under the bed or basement closet. Put you beds on risers and use low profile totes and spacebags under the beds. Switch out summer and winter wardrobes. Some people use storage Ottomans or trunksas coffetables to hide extra items as well. Lastly the beds with drawers below the mattress are options too.

I would suggest your husband use that closet and dressers in the master bedroom and you could use the second bedroom for all your clothing needs this worked for my in laws how downsized with this same problem. The closet door add shoe pouches from the dollar tree for extra socks and shoes. Under the bed is another way it store seasonal items that are not in season.📌🎄
