Welcome!! Nothing says Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday better than a pretty well-decorated front door. Add bows inexpensively for a lot of impact and a friendly welcome. All the sources for this holiday porch makeover are listed at the bottom of this project!! Let's get decorating...
I started with a traditional green artificial wreath. To it, I added pine cones, ribbons, faux berries and red and burgundy silk flowers.
I ordered the wood monogram... I LOVE how it looks. It came in natural wood...I painted it with a gold craft paint and then sealed it. The source for the wood monogram is listed below.
Around the door I added greenery. I added bright red ribbon to the corners of the door frame and onto the wreath. The bright pops of red make the door stand out... it feels like the holidays already...
I added matching greenery to the urns. Of course I added a red bow... I like to use the bright red flocked ribbon.
Looks like were are ready for our guests...
Other tips for a guest-ready front door:
  • Clean the windows.
  • Clean the porch of all leaves and outdoor debris.
  • Make sure the path to the door is clear, removing any decorations/debris that could cause a fall.
  • Use a power washer if you need a deep clean.
  • A welcome mat is a great idea...Consider placing a second mat inside the door for snowy boots and shoes.
  • Use good lighting and update when necessary, replace any lights that are not working.
  • Always use matching decor, so the look is tied together. A great way to tie a look together is with coordinating ribbons and bows. It's an inexpensive way to create a finished look.
No matter the style you choose for your entry... Your home will feel warm and inviting with a holiday welcome on the front porch.
If you have a lamp post or outdoor fencing, consider adding additional coordinating bows. Adding fresh greens is also an nice touch for the holidays.
