Go to the Salvation Army type of store and look for used cabinets. Wire shelves also work. A plastic light weight adjustable shelving unit works too.
Hi Karin, my husband made me a shelf for detergents and such over my appliances. We have a field stone foundation and that sort of crumbles so it gets messy. also because there is a window there I can only have one shelf, but It probably cost nothing. . . we would have had a piece of wood on hand. Oh, I just saw that you need a closed unit. Oops!
We have drawers, that are UNDER the washer and dryer, that way, you can see what is in the drawer, when you open them. Lowe's have these, and they are great!!!! We truly use ours, all the time, and this is under $100.oo each, tho they really pay for themselves. J.
i just went to a habitat store...there are usually soooo many cabinets at very reasonable prices. We bought a very large one for 17.00 dollars, taking it apart, enough wood for multiple projects. We see cabinets there in good shape for 5or less bucks. Goodwill not so much. Our last visit the other day...was a WHOLE kitchen ,beautiful, for 700......if we had known ....
oh check Craigās list etc....we had cabinets galore to give away. Another thing, you could do a shelf with a curtain to open up when you need something. š¤š§
Get some L brackets and free pallet wood, or flawed boards at the local home improvement store.
I would go to Habitat for Humanity Restore, and look for a couple old upper kitchen cabinets (measure your space height before you go to see how much space you have with washer lid open and how wide the space is).
Take them home and paint. Find and mark your wall studs, draw a level line on the wall to use to level the bottom of cabinet and line up. You can even screw in a 2-3" horizontal board to support cabinet for leveling and screwing in. Be sure to hit the studs, usually 16" on center, and screw them into studs by opening cabinet and drilling through the backs into your stud centers. I would use at least 3" screw. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FcyQWlOO18
I am going to take a look. Thanks
Go to Lowe's bent and bend dept., at the back of the store. . tell a clerk your financial condition, and they may find a loop hole, with your name on it. Wishing you the best, Judy.
Usually, if you ask the clerk for help, and explain why. Most freight comes in dented, or harmed, but that is on the side, out of sight. ASK, and I know many stores can help you. Best wishes, J.
There are wire shelves that hook to the wall over the washer and drye. They have brackets to hold them up.
I have a gas dryer that needs clearance in the back for the vent. I put a shelf about 5" lower than the back of washer and dryer to get a lot of extra storage. Things do not fall off.
You are so welcome, most stores have a dent area, we must ask, and they will help us. There is even a scratch furniture area, in many stores, or even a separate store. We just have to find these stores. Have a great day, J.
We have our washer and dryer in our powder room, which is a very small room to begin with. My husband hung a cabinet over the washer/dryer, which gives me somewhere to put soap, dryer sheets, bleach and misc, other stuff. We hung a shower curtain in front of the appliances and it looks just like there's a bath tub behind the curtain.
your very welcome
I bought some sturdy plastic baskets and have them on top of my dryer. I keep our beach towels there
