I have a corner gas fireplace with a deep corner mantle. I found an old window and placed it to create a "wall" squareing off the mantle and providing a base for accessories.
what about a platform for your tv? Cute low crate type box? Adding trim to the space? Like framing it.

Bigger TV! What about a false wall behind the set to hide the wires.
Oooh. Now im jealous
I would put several large candlesticks of various heights in there. Nothing else. The effect would be dramatic.
Buy a bigger TV
We found old plantation shutters at an estate sale. One of the more quiet colors in the room was a pale sage.. that of course, was the color of the shutters. When they were open there were candlesticks , different colors that picked up the other colors in the room.
Barn doors or shutters to conceal when it's not in use and yet provide a framing effect to the space when the tv is in use. I'd also suggest raising it and using a wall bracket to hang it instead of it resting on the mantle.
For cheap budget - add curtain rod at top of opening and let curtain fall behind TV. Will hide wires too. Use whatever color matc your decor
WOW! That's awesome...
Wow...how lucky are you?
