How can I create clothing storage in a room with no closet?
We converted an office with no closets into a bedroom for our grandson. Every wall has either a door or a window. If I build a closet, it will eat up much needed floor space. We use an antique wardrobe right now, but I would like to do something different. Any ideas on how to store clothes without a closet?

My son's bedroom was in a converted dining room - also no closet. I used an open Metro chrome shelving rolling rack. His jeans, shorts, shirts were just folded and stacked on the shelves - similar to a display you'd see in a store. I used fabric bins for underwear, socks, belts, etc. His shoes went in a bigger bin. This meant that everything was exposed, but it also meant that he was able to find his clothes quickly and wasn't rummaging through drawers or throwing things in a closet. We used a coat rack for jackets and sweatshirts.

I still like the antique wardrobe idea. š How old is your grandson? Hmmm, nothing permanent. Does he have hanging clothes at this point, or is it all folded? They sell so many different configurations of nice cubby plus choose a storage container pieces of furniture, you could really create your own combination. Clothes on shelves, shoes and undies in separate bins, toys in baskets...

Can you put cupboards hung from the top of the walls, and/ or open shelving with baskets to handle the clothes? Have you room to use a small dresser as a nightstand for the āsmallsā
Back of door rack and Chest of drawers. Lift up the bed and make storage room under it.........
If you haven'rt already purchased a bed, consider buying one with storage drawers built in so he can keep socks, underwear, t-shirts, etc. in them. OR, you could put the bed up higher and use the space underneath for a dresser. You could use hooks for hanging clothing next to doors or windows. If there is space in a hallway adjacent to his room, you could put a wardrobe there.
I bought one of these at Walmart for a room with no closet.
