A fence is the only thing that works for me
I used to have a small picket fence (edging height) that I put around the gardens until the dogswere trained to stay out....that meant that for the first year or s of their lives, they were not out without me being in the yard with them
Put plenty of moth balls out to keep dogs away. I told a good friend this and she said it did not help. When I saw her yard she had scattered about 1 every 6 feet. They need to be much closer to be effective. Every foot or so should be close enough. Eventually they will quit coming.
Good plan but not always practical. Often times you can't afford it or can't DIY etc. Besides this link, many have found that planting dollar tree forks, tines up, in the dirt help. Also jagged rocks places around the edges and throughout the flowers will help too. Plus they don't like certain smells. Hope those help.
