Vacuum vacuum vacuum. Keeping a clean house is best. Invest in a good hepa filter vacuum cleaner with attachments. Bay leaves, lavender and mint in closets and drawers help too.
get one small bottle of peppermint oil (not flavoring) , put in sprayer bottle, fill with tap water, and a small shot of dishwashing soap (not dishwasher!) shake and spray. I live in the country, next to a huge field, and this stuff keeps my home bug free. I spray around the entire door side and out, around all my windows outside, even the moisture vents in my foundation and under the eaves. I am arachnophobicand works for me! Not a cobweb to be found.
Hi Mandy, Here's a link that may help: https://www.servicemasterclean.com/blog/residential-clean/how-to-kill-dust-mites-in-your-furniture-and-home/
Good luck!
Peppermint oil is a good repellent, use about 10 drops per sprayer bottle, this also serves to prevent mold.
These are great. House was empty for 5 years and had undisclosed pack rat infestation that caused awful breeding of biting spider and dust mites! Any recommendations for clothes that can only be washed in cold water. Had ducts and tile and grout professionally cleaned. I'm exhausted trying to rid these pests.
Thanks
Dust Mites, best to wash all items in hot water with 1/2c of 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax. Mattress, I use 20 Mule Team Laundry Borax sprinkled on it, let sit a couple hours, vacuum off, then put mattress in a dust mite proof zippered cover.... walmart has them reasonable. I also wash pillows, and then put them in dust mite proof zippered covers. You can put the borax in a glass jar and poke holes in the lid and sprinkle on carpets, leave 3 hours then vacuum up.
Spiders are harder, but my old house was infested when I got it and being an arachniphobe, I got out the caulk gun and filled every crack and hole I could find, all along ceiling, doors, windows, thresholds etc. Then I got flea traps with sticky pads and the creeper ones get stuck on it.... https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_3_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=flea+traps+for+inside+your+home&sprefix=flea+traps%2Caps%2C575&crid=2P7XBLGCB1LUV
I have new non-toxic ant, roach and spider pesticide that kills them on contact, EcoLogic, that is lemongrass oil.
