it's virtually impossible to kill that stuff. I have it everywhere and hate it. It grows everywhere and FAST !
I love Rose of Sharon, beautiful. It needs full sun and partial shade are best for this shrub, meaning it prefers a minimum of 4 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day.
Mine grew like crazy. And it had sun about 5 hours a day .
I have a Rose of Sharon, in full sun. I inherited it when I bought the house. I would really like to take it out though, for a number of reasons. Where I live in the Northeast, it is the last plant in the yard to leaf out, then it doesn't flower until late August. When it does, all the little flowers fall onto my driveway/patio area and since they are white, look like cigarette butts!
Sun makes it flower more, but I find it grows anywhere.
I have one that is growing under and up into a huge Podocarpus. It gets some morning sun. Blooms big purple blooms like crazy
