The vents should not be covered up so the only remedy might be to paint it. It is small so I really do not see any problem with it.
How about an over the door wreath hanger and use for a seasonal wreath? They do make slat hangers, maybe a few pictures? Nothing that restricts airflow though.
Is this a rental apartment? If so, get landlord's approval before doing anything.
Is there a way to take out the louvered panels and replace them with something else. Like a lattice, metal decorative screens, lace. Maybe paint the louvers a different color (however that would make them stand out more)
The door looks impeccable, I wouldn't change a thing. Keep in mind, an air handler always needs ventilation.
The door is perfect. If you want it less obtrusive, paint the door handle and brass the same color as the door.
It looks just fine as it is. What is an air handler? (I live in the north)
We just put in a new furnace and air conditioner....the installer had to cut vents in four walls in my house plus a door....so I am thinking you need that vented door for your air handler...paint it, hang a wreath on it but leave it vented for the correct working of your air handler. Does not look bad to me.
Since it is an apartment you can use temporary wall paper.
If you are looking to disguise this door so that people don't open it thinking it is the closet, I would get some mesh fabric and pain and go to town. You can attach the mesh over the top slats and hang or decorate the mesh any way you wish. Then I would stencil a motif on the lower slats. Or, you might run your mesh from the top slat to the bottom slat and display photos or any lightweight decoration you prefer. Perhaps make it look like a road leading to the western sunset.
Thanks. Most houses here have just heating.
The door is subtle and nice. Decorating it would only bring attention to it. I agree with some others and not do anything.
