Dig them up .............
Dig up. Eliminate! They are awful. It was first thing I did when I bought my house.
The ultimate solution and a path of last resort is to carefully paint an herbicide (listed for control of shrubs) on the leaves of each offending plant. If you choose to go this path, read the entire label and make sure it is effective for whatever you are trying to control. Apply the least amount possible according to the directions. Keep pets and children away from the area. Dispose of any remaining chemicals in a responsible method, such as a hazardous waste collection in your area.
