I found an old set of glass canisters in my closet and decided to give them a quick update. Their clean styling was a little too modern for my 1920's cottage style kitchen (that you can peek at here), so I added some fabric from my stash to them and now they're perfect!
I started by washing the canisters out with regular dishwashing liquid and drying them with a soft rag.
Next, I grabbed a favorite fabric and cut a circle that was a little larger than the canister top. I traced a bowl to get a perfect circle. Then I secured it around the top of the canister with a rubber band. Easy peasy.
Lastly, I cut a strip of coordinating fabric and hot glued it to the rubber band and the circle fabric.
It's secure enough that the tops come on and off the canisters with ease and hold their shape...and now they're much prettier! Makeover successful!!
