I would donate them to an animal shelter. They can use them for all the animals that come in and they are always in need when they have to swap them out and clean them etc on an ongoing basis.
I store a couple in the basement in case I want to move around furniture, rather than sliding the furniture across the hardwood and scratch it.
I move them out to the garage, until they are just too ratty to use anymore. As others stated, I'll paint a new pattern on them, to breathe new life into them sometimes.
They become outdoor carpets. Have two right now on the deck in front of my sliding glass doors. Perfect for keeping that spring mud outside.
I have one in my shed at the door. At the garage entrance into the house. Use over your fancy ones on snow days. If they are clean / washable, they can be donated to an animal shelter for the animals to use as a bed.
Outside in front of a door. Although I second what Lisa said about donating washable ones to dog shelters.
