I’m not sure what the strips are, but you can always go back to the black grout. White will get dirty quick. Can you provide a picture?

You could paint or stain the grout. I did that in a bathroom. It is easy but can be time consuming depending on the amount of grout that needs to be done. Just remember to seal it really well.
Go to the Aquamix website. They have dozens of colors to choose from. It is grout dye. It takes patience and time to apply it, but well worth the outcome.
Hmmmm, I think I would run a few tests on the grout: 1) get some black concrete stain, 2) get some black Rit dye, 3) get some black ink, 4) Try going over it with your black grout, be sure to mist the grout first before applying. Pick the one that works the best, and I would seal it when you get the result you like.
Please use grout stain and don't try painting with regular paint
Take a picture of it as it is, then print it out on your computer and "play" with various colors with colored pencils, crayons, or markers until you get the look you want, then buy paint or stain to do the real thing. Good luck!
Grout stain comes in paint pen form, much easier to apply and keep off of the tiles.
