A Door Kick Plate sounds an option. You can be creative if it's the interior side (see pics), or a standard exterior kick plate for the exterior.
can find the exterior kick plates almost everywhere, ergo: Walmrt, Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon, etc.
For the interior, you can probably use those as well, but you could always make and lay a tiled kick plate to accommodate your interior (or exterior) style.

this was my problem as well. I ended up lightly sanding the door, patching with paintable wood filler, then painting the whole door. I also put a clear acrylic "dog scratch" protector on the bottom of the door. I found it online.
