The fabric is definitely a NO NO. You can find beautiful glass globes at the Home Depot and Lowes. There are also small lampshades on the market that actually slip over the traditional lite bulbs.
Use led bulbs, they don't generate heat.
how about a wooden valance made from reclaimed wood. Pallet wood, free!
Even with using LED lightbulbs, any kind of fabric light fixture covering in a bathroom is extremely hard to keep lint free, clean, and sanitized. Glass fixture globes or shades can be removed at any time and washed thoroughly with soap and hot water.
An alternative would be using those new "antique" type bulbs or ones that are already decorated.
Thank you all fr the input! I decided against the fabric and because i hate the look of hollywood fixtures in general decided this was my answer. Using wood shims and creating a valance of sort. ( thanks Lynn!) Im excited to finish putting it together!
