I would start with Murphy's Oil Soap.
Before I painted our old dark walnut cabinets, I used Murphy's Oil Soap for cleaning and followed that with Liquid Gold. Liquid Gold is also a cleaner so you may not need both. Liquid Gold also moisturizes the wood so that it has a nice sheen. I used to use Liquid Gold 3-4 times a year to keep that glowing look. It will soak into the wood over a short period of time and be beautiful. Wishing you the best.
white vinegar and water 50/50 and a dab of blue dawn dish soap
Mix 1 teaspoon of Dawn with 16 oz's of White Vinegar in a spray bottle. If you are going to paint the cabinets after you clean them be sure to wipe them down with Alcohol to kill the soap film.
I use Old English furniture polish on mine with the dark hue. If it is used twice a year or so, it keeps them cleaned. If the cabinets are excessively dirty I use a degreaser with a small area and tooth brush. Here is a photo. It works well!! Spray it on, let it set 10 min. in small area , then scrub with toothbrush and wipe clean with damp rag. Repeat as needed.
