I have been living with this kitchen feature wall for about 12 years. I really enjoy the wood look, but it was empty and it felt like dead space to me. I have never attempted to decorate a wall before. I’m a very thrifty person and love to make things look good on a budget. I splurged a little bit I’m very happy with how it turned out.
I began my project by removing the clock and moving the China hutch, which by the way, I LOVE!! This piece used to be all wooden, but I painted it! I think it looks amazing!
I lightly sanded the wall and wiped it down with a damp cloth. The wall took while to dry since it is cedar.
The paint I chose was called Wedding White in eggshell. I taped the edges and painted the whole wall. I had to repeat a few times because the stain bled through a bit.
I placed the clock back on the wall and actually left it for awhile. it still looks empty but I like to take my time to make sure it will work!!
I recently went away on a weekend ladies retreat and won a door prize. The prize was 3 photos of herbs. I also recently went to a home decor store and found a picture that was the same length as the 3 photos. I also had a few decor items lying around the house. A vintage coffee pod holder, a succulent, a picture frame, my grandfathers knife holder, a vintage floral box, and a few teapots. I put it all together and it definitely looks like a picture from a magazine!

It looks great Nicki - just a little tip for you - specifically on dark wood or anything with 'knots' is to prime it first to stop the bleed through - I always use Zinsser BIN 123 - it is great stuff Hope you don't mind me saying?
