The boxed cornmeal muffin and bread mixes with the added sugar is great. You can get them real cheap. It doesn't take a whole lot and is safe for kids and pets, it only harms like insects. Put some on their path and on the mounds and it will get taken into the mound for everyone to eat, even the queen, they can't digest it or something like that and it kills all who eat it.

I've had great success with borax and condensed milk. (Place an old lid in a dark area, pour in some of the sweetened condensed milk & about a 1/2 teaspoon of borax. They'll eat and die!)

This works on roaches, too! ICK!!

it is easy to be rid of ants. i did not think so. We bought an acre full of fire ant mounds. We tried everything from poison to bait (i hate using chemicals) Then an old timer told us to use cornmeal. It kills them. We put cornmeal on each mound and in 2 days the ants were gone except a few on 2 mounds. We had large colonies! We put a 2nd application and they were gone for the rest of the summer. When spring came we were ready with new cornmeal. We did get 2 new mounds, cornmeal took them out. and for the rest of the summer we were ant free. We use Jiffy because it is sweet and they hurry and scurry to take it to the nest. If you cannot find a mound, put it where you see lines of them coming and going. One box Jiffy worked to rid 5 mounds. So figure 4 or 5 applications per box is all. It is safe for kids, pets, then environment and it is cheap. Best of all it WORKS!!

Borax kills all of them, they carry it home and feed their babies.

I mix a teaspoon of borax (in the laundry soap area)

with some hot water and something sweet like honey or jam.

I place the mixture inside a jar lid and set it wherever

the ants are coming in. They will gather around the lid and you'll be tempted to just kill them but don't. Let them take it home

and it will kill everyone. The ant problem will be gone in two days.

if they're outdoors, find their nest holes and pour boiling water into the holes. If they're indoors, buy a plug-in high frequency device suitable for the area; the devices are not expensive. Sue in England
