You could call in a Builder and get a price for forming a stone columns (to match rest of home)
You are absolutely right. They need bigger and square.
Check their height and decide how much bigger you want to go.
Google “column covers, exterior” and you’ll see that they’re available in aluminum, wood and architectural foam.
Have fun
These are all different ideas. I love your beautiful porch!

I think it would look nice to have the bottom part square with stone like what is on your house. You could also do the foundation of the porch and the sides of the steps done in the stone. After building the boxes for the stone, you could get square column caps to go around the poles. This is just an example, there are a lot of options.

I think the round columns look nice just the way they are. If desired, paint them another color for a change...black maybe, to look more modern. Lots of colorful flowers on the porch would look nice, too.
They do look small. Boxing them is easy. You already have square capitols up and down. Measure the height minus 1/4", Measure the square capitals. Cut four sides the width of the capitals and the height of the columns. Assemble three sides like a trough. Slip it over the columns, insert the fourth side, nail or screw in place. Nail or screw the square columns to the top and bottom capitals. Caulk any seams. Prime and paint.
Thank you everyone for all your input - all great ideas!
I think they would good with craftsman style pillars.
