Paint and change the drawer pulls. You can go two tone with the desk being lighter and the drawers a contrasting darker color. The top can be painted or sanded and stained. Chalk paint is a good choice as there is very little prep needed (just a cleaning and smooth out rough edges with sandpaper, if needed) Check out the variety of door pulls on Amazon. For inspiration on the look you want to end up with, look up repurposed desk or dresser on Pinterest. Good luck!
Paint with Annie Sloan Chalk paint and change the drawer pulls/knobs.
Decide on a color scheme for the piece. Do you want the shabby look or stained look? Once you decide on how you want your piece to look, go from there. Personally for me, I would paint it with chalk paint in white and shabby it up. If the pulls are original, I would use them, if not I would purchase some old looking new pulls...lol. To use chalk paint, clean the piece with a damp soft rag. Then paint it with chalk paint, let it dry and sand it in places that would naturally show wear. You could also paint it a dark color and then paint over it with a light color and wet distress the piece. That would be pretty too. Refinishing the piece old be pretty too, but a bit mor work and time.
