Seek out a decorative welder / fabricator in your area. First I would check out your neighborhood and see what you like that grabs your attention. Google for wrought iron period designs so you have something in mind to show them to get the look you are going for. Interior or exterior?

I don't know about the integrity as I don't really know what the handrail was like in 1905 when our house was built. We have an iron railing that is painted to match the front door. My husband built this but I don't know if he copied something or not. Maybe he did because the back porch has a similar railing and we did not replace that one. We have made very few changes to our house.
