this is a wasp trap they work great you can get them for less than $8 at Amazon, Walmart and Bed, Bath and Beyond. I have been using mine for a few yrs now and it traps a lot of flies and wasps

My friend fills a paper bag with plastic bags and ties the top to an eave or just under the roof of her porch. It scares the wasps away as they think there is another nest in that area. She says it works!
