Sure, why not? Instead of fighting it, make it a beautiful, easy to care for spot in the yard. Maybe add a shepherds hook, some yard art and a bench.
You could lay down weed barrier covering and put a lot of phlox there. They spread and look and smell beautiful!
I would use a ground cover.
