Try putting garbage in bags called mint. Not sure of the name but sold in Home stores. The odor keeps them away. Had bad problem chewed my garbage cand so far no problem
Shaved bits of Irish Spring Soap helps spread about the yard could help.
A big dog.
There must be some food source thats attracting them...... like dog/cat food? remove all food sources, put trash cans in garage.
Do you have a pond or pool in your yard? They may be there because of the water source. Otherwise use a garbage can with a locking lid. If that isn't enough, spray the outside of it with ammonia.
p.s. Make sure they haven't pulled up your roof shingles or nested in your attic.
They are mess makers. If your county has an Extension Service, I would call them for advice or a reliable critter removal company that will catch and relocate them like they did the rogue squirrel that did $1,000 damage to my house.
