Depends on whether the pendants are designed for use in a bathroom... and you DO NOT want to use them over a tub or in a shower... too much risk of slipping and grabbing one to stop a fall.... check local building codes before putting one in.... I have seen a LOT of the DIY tv guys use pendants in a bathroom... just depends on what you like... AND... be sure you have the entire bathroom wired with GFI circuits... preferably by an electrician

Try an outdoor pendent. The kind used in an enclosed porch or patio.
Why not?! No different than lights on a wall or ceiling. As long as you have the room, ceiling height, and they won't get in the way, no problem. Who ever told you that is full of the "toilet".
