KathrynElizabeth Etier on May 25, 2014I'm in NC, too, and I get these things by the thousands, epecially along my creek banks. But they don't flower. Fortunately, they are super easy to pull so I don't go nuts with digging them up. But I can't seem to control them, and I didn't plant them. They showed up about 4 years ago, and love it so much here they keep coming back and bringing all their friends. I've looked at a lot of photos of Jewelweed, and am not convinced that's what these are. Nor are they bryophyllum pinnatum.Helpful Reply

D on Aug 29, 2014Impatiens capensis aka Jewelweed is a native plant. Orange blooms in late summer are relished by Hummers and pollinators alike. In 5a it prefers damp soil and part shade. Part of the "original landscape" , find a place for it and let it prosper. Trouble free.Helpful Reply
