Honestly, the best is what you are able to do and afford. Cleaning is the cheapest and best first project. A power washer for siding, sidewalks and steps will save you a lot of scrubbing. Wash your windows, etc. Painting your front door and mailbox will give an instant freshness. Edging your flower beds (I personally like curved beds), adding flowers and mulch to cleaned up beds makes a great appearance. Once those projects are done, consider a pretty wreath and a nice seasonal vignette on your front porch.
I think the best thing you can do for curb appeal is a nice lush lawn. My husband puts Scott's products on the lawn and he has it looking pretty good. He only puts it on the front yard. We have two dogs and he doesn't want to risk their health by putting it in the backyard. There are 4 different times to put it on your lawn. He just did step 2 a couple weeks ago. So there will be one more step during the summer and one more in the fall. If you have a green thumb, you could make flower beds or even window boxes. I just read a post yesterday where someone used an old bureau to make window boxes. She just cut the back half of the drawers off and reinstalled the back up closer to the front. Drill a couple holes for drainage. Then attach to the house using L brackets. Soil and flowers complete it. They were so cute. Best of luck to you, Cindy.
it varies per region. a real estate agent can give you suggestions. Not that your selling, but they know curb appeal. Keep your lawn mowed is one suggestion. Obvious, but over looked. Flower or veg beds with out weeds. Remove any lawn ornaments. My realtor liked the bench seat out front in the flower garden.
Clean front back and around. I agree with most of the above. A couple of pots of cheerful flowers front and back.
If folks don’t feel you’ve maintained the outside, theyll assume the inside will be bad as well, and won’t even get out of their car.
Mow the grass, add flowers at the front, paint the door, wash the windows.
paint your front door!
Clean and paint. Not just the house, the fence, repaint flower pots, doors, metal screen doors, planters, wooden furniture, trim work and more. Pressure wash the sidewalks, driveway and patio. Make the yard look neat and clean too. Pick up and put away things like tools, toys, sprinklers, empty pots, etc. Edge the lawn next to the driveway for a crisp clean look. Weed eat next to planters. Don't forget to weed planters and add mulch too. Wash windows outside so they sparkle.
Landscaping, porch setting with a chair, potted plants and flowers, changing out or dressing up your mailbox does wonders, repaint the house, mow the yard, lay a new walkway to the door, repaint the front door with a new lively color.
