Add shutters back on or not?

Just has the house painted today! So the white trim is not yet complete around the windows, but I need to decide by tomorrow if I want to put any shutters back on the house? An if so, all of them or some of them? Where? They would be a dark slate color, matching the front door. Please help!

I think they go with the carter of the house.

What a gorgeous house! I would do the shutters to keep it original and to give it a little contrast. If you're not sure you want shutters though, window boxes would also look fantastic on your house.

    They would dress it up.

Beautiful house. Would look lovely with the shutters back on. Maybe paint them in a colour to match the roof of your porch as a contrast. Hazel.

Agreed - shutters... it’s kind of like eyes without eyelashes, or mine without mascara! Something’s missing when they’re gone. In Fla. we see a lot of homes painting the corner banding detail on the house, in like a cream or white. Not sure it would look good on your home (?). A new trend I’ve seen a lot of lately, it to paint the mullions black. I Like what it does to make the windows pop - but how to do it, when so many new windows have them between the glass...

Ok thank you!! What do you mean by “corner banding detail “? And what are mullions? do you have any pictures? Thx!

Beautiful home. I would definitely vote to put the shutters back in a contrasting color. Please post the "final look". Thanks!

I see that youve had some trimming done to the tree. If you were a client, I’d suggest removing it all together in favor of a small ornamental tree, and planting large trees on both outer sides of the house- to frame it, but not to hide your beautiful home.

Oh thank you for the insight!!! We have Been debating about the tree- we just trimmed it last night. ( actually I’m not sure if you can call it trimming, 😂 but we cut off some lower branches to try and thin it out so we would not have to pay a tree trimmer right now to come and cut off the top branches where they need it the most.) So we have a huge pine tree to the left & the driveway is pretty close to the right side. Any other suggestions?

Yes shutters. It finishes off the house.

Since you went with a neutral solid colour, as opposed to your original varigated brick, I would definitely put the shutters back on.

Thanks so much everyone! Almost done! We are working on the shutter color - who knew that dark gray comes off looking like navy in the sunlight? We will use straight black instead. Anyway, here is the latest pic. I really appreciate your kind words & helpful insights!

Thanks so much everyone for the feedback. I’d forgotten to post our final, finished house pic. (I still have a few white lattice window pieces to fix for the garage windows though).
