I've heard it might be tricky. Is it true? What is the best way to that? It's this year's plant. No flowers yet.
Geraniums, mine bloom continually as long as I dead head them. I also have vinca, the variety where I live is sold as an annual but I can get 2 or 3 years out of them and they bloom year round for me. Roses are always a safe bet. You could do a little tea rose variety. Mums are also good bloomers depending on the variety. Shasta Daisy, Gerbera Daisy, carnations, snapdragons.
Hello this is Peggy. I am sorry about your mother. Did she have a favorite color ? Do you want something that comes back every year? You can mix annuals and perennials. Petunias come in about every color. I love purple cone flowers look like purple daises. Do your homework, enjoy your garden.
i discovered a flower called Gaura a few years ago, and I LOVE THEM, and they bloom from spring all the way through fall. They come in various shades of pink and white blooms that bloom up long shoots that come out from the leaf bunched and when the wind blows they sway and twirl and dance like butterflies above the plants. In the fall just protect the root by using a layer of leafs as insulation and cut back anything above ground the frost kills back and in the spring pull off the leaf mulch protection and they come right back out. The long constant blooming season and easy maintainence over the winter makes it my favorite flower! Perfect for any garden for great blooms!
Hi Joan, My condolences for your mom's passing. My mom had the 'green thumb' in our family and I think what you are doing is lovely. I like both Naomie and Peggy's answers and might add that one summer favorite that bloomed continually for us was the good ole zinnia.
We would plant rows at the edge of garden with marigolds to cut and take a Sunday bouquet to Granny's. Begonias are another hardy summer plant.
My daughter has fallen in love with portulaca (moss rose) and sweet williams (dianthus) is a favorite of mine that is a perennial.
And lastly I hope that this tune blesses you.. It was my mom's favorite and was played at her passing.
