You're in luck! Pinterest has tons and tons of ideas and you can look on Michaels craft store website to since you can stack them and do all kinds of fun things
Kathy, you are going to have a lovely home with home crafted decor. If I were making a nightstand out of two wooden crates, I would have the top box facing the bed to be convenient to the person in bed. I would have the bottom box facing into the room to display books and other decorative items. If you use three boxes, I would suggest that box be turned to face the wall, and use it to hide my purse, medicines, and storage items. Best wishes ☺️
This will sound funny, but I actually saw an old 2 drawer filing cabinet used as a nightstand. Just paint to match the rest of the stuff.
I built a little shelf/dressor using crates from home depot and it turned out great! I stacked them up and they stay great, you could always zip tie or tie them together if twine if you are worried about them toppling over,I even used a slab of marble that was extra from another project and placed on top of the crates to create a "table top" that didn't have slats, what i love most about this idea is that is offers storage and also is very flexible, super easy to dissemble if I ever change my mind and want a different route.
Tons of ideas on this one on pinterest and hometalk. Just play around til you get the look you like. Have fun
